Data Collection

TideRef does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. All processing happens locally in your browser.

Location

If you choose "Use My Location," your coordinates are used only within your browser to find the nearest NOAA tide station. Your location is never sent to us or to any third party.

Local Storage

We use browser local storage to remember your theme, unit preference, selected tide station, and cookie consent choice. No personally identifiable information is stored.

Third-Party Services

Tide predictions are fetched directly from the NOAA CO-OPS API (tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov). Requests to NOAA include the tide station ID being viewed, not your location. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage (page views, approximate region). No personally identifiable information is collected by us.
